UNIT 7 and Prahlad Bubbar are delighted to announce the exhibition Silent Rhythm. Presented at UNIT 7’s extensive space in North-West London, the show brings new gold-leaf covered sculptural paintings by Indian artist Shubha Taparia in dialogue with a large painting installation and calligraphic style works by Egyptian artist Mohamed Monaiseer.

Shubha Taparia is a conceptual artist who often creates her artwork from industrial materials which she encounters in the transient urban landscape. Her new gold-leaf covered sculptural paintings form a new chapter in her ongoing Illumination series.

Mohamed Monaiseer’s first presentation in London features an immersive painting installation depicting labyrinthine patterns and hand-painted gestural works on cloth, that recall Islamic calligraphic traditions.

Bringing Taparia and Monaiseer into a dialogue at Unit 7’s industrial space is visually and conceptually intriguing: Both draw inspiration from found objects, historical traditions and the immediate urban environment that surrounds them in London and Cairo respectively.

The opening of the exhibition will be celebrated with a brunch on 19th November from 11 am – 1 pm. Christine Takengny will give an introduction to the exhibition at 12 noon and will lead a tour through the exhibition in the presence of the artists directly after.
